A stronger yen makes converting into francs more favourable
CHF/JPY dropped to 192.12, a level last seen in November 2025. In other words, one franc now buys fewer yen than before, and the opposite direction benefits: anyone converting yen into francs receives more than they would have eight days ago. The move was concentrated into a few hours, between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, with the yen gaining 1% against the franc and 1.8% against the euro, while USD/JPY fell from 159.58 to 155.30.
Three signals out of Tokyo in three days
The US Treasury Secretary let Japanese officials know that rate hikes were needed; a Bank of Japan board member raised the prospect of a wider range of options than the traditional 25 basis point move; the institution was then reported to favour a hike this month with a flexible pace thereafter. The driving currency of the moment is not the one receiving the best data, it is the one carrying the most unbalanced positioning.
The Bank of Japan meets on 17 and 18 September, the day before the FOMC. Should normalisation be confirmed, the yen-to-franc conversion would keep improving.

No. The rate displayed on the b-sharpe converter is the interbank rate, i.e. the market rate without any added fees. This is the purest reference value, the one banks use among themselves. The rate you will get when making a real exchange through b-sharpe includes transaction fees from 0.12%, which allows savings of up to 80% compared to banks.
