5 questionsHow do I create my b-sharpe account?
Registration is free, with no obligation, and you only pay when you carry out a currency exchange transaction. The process varies slightly depending on your profile:
– For individuals: Registration is completed entirely online in under 10 minutes. Enter your details, upload proof of identity and proof of address (dated within the last 6 months and in your name). Your application is usually approved within 24 working hours.
– For businesses: You can complete your company’s basic details in 2 minutes on our website. A dedicated b-sharpe account manager will then contact you within 24 hours to finalise your registration and configure your account to suit your business’s needs.
Who can open a b-sharpe account?
b-sharpe is open to individuals residing in Switzerland or abroad, as well as to businesses and the self-employed. Whether you want to convert your salary into CHF, pay a supplier in foreign currency or manage intra-group flows, a single account is all you need for all your transactions.
Can I manage my account from my phone?
Yes, b-sharpe is available on mobile via the iOS and Android apps. You can carry out your conversions, track your transactions and receive real-time exchange rate alerts, wherever you are.
How do I contact my b-sharpe adviser?
At b-sharpe, you have a personal adviser who can be contacted directly by phone, WhatsApp, chat or email. With us, every client has a direct human contact, not a hotline with a 15-minute wait. Our team is based in Geneva and is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. For urgent matters or questions about your current transactions, please call us directly on the number provided in your client area.
Does b-sharpe offer personalised support?
Yes. In addition to the self-service platform, you can access a dedicated desk for your complex transactions: rate locking, hedging strategies and recurring payments. Our experts are available Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to assist you, whether you’re getting started or dealing with day-to-day foreign exchange challenges.
Transaction
10 questionsHow does the b-sharpe exchange service work?
Once logged in, you indicate the amount and the desired currency. You immediately see the rate applied and the amount you will receive, with no hidden surprises. You confirm the operation, then make the transfer from your bank account to your b-sharpe IBAN in your name. As soon as the funds are received, we execute the exchange and credit your destination account, usually the same day or within 24 business hours.
How is the b-sharpe exchange rate calculated?
b-sharpe is based on the real interbank rate, the same one used by banks among themselves, to which a transaction fee is added. At b-sharpe, transparency is a priority: when you confirm an amount, you are guaranteed to receive it.
What is the difference between the fixed rate and the market rate?
With the fixed rate, you lock your rate in real time, and it remains guaranteed for 48 hours, the time needed to send us your funds. With the market rate, you send your funds without setting a rate beforehand: the rate applied will be the market rate at the time your transfer is received.
How long does a transfer take?
Once your funds have been received and the conversion confirmed, the transfer is executed within 24 to 48 business hours depending on the currencies involved. The operations go through top-tier Swiss banks.
Which currencies are available on the b-sharpe exchange service?
b-sharpe offers more than 23 currencies, covering the essential needs in Europe, North America and Asia: CHF, EUR, USD, GBP, AED, JPY, CAD, MAD and many others. Find the full list at b-sharpe.com/convertisseur-devises/.
Why use an online exchange service rather than my bank?
Traditional banks generally apply transaction fees of 1.5% to 2.5% on the real interbank rate, to which transfer fees are added. At b-sharpe, enjoy reduced transaction fees, from 0.12%. We take transparency seriously: the amount you confirm is the amount you will receive. It’s guaranteed. On a monthly salary of CHF 5,000, this generally represents several dozen euros saved each month.
What is the amount limit for transactions?
There is no maximum amount imposed for a transaction. For large amounts, our desk is available to assist you and optimise the conditions of your transaction. Please note that for significant amounts, proof of the origin of the funds may be requested, in accordance with Swiss anti-money laundering regulations.
Is there a minimum amount to exchange currencies with b-sharpe?
No, there is no minimum amount imposed for a one-time transaction. For recurring transactions or large amounts, our desk can offer you tailored support. You only pay when you exchange: no fixed fees or subscriptions.
Can I set up rate alerts?
Yes. You can set a target rate threshold and receive an alert as soon as it is reached. This allows you to convert at the most favourable moment, without constantly monitoring the markets.
Can I cancel or modify a transaction after initiating it?
If you do not lock a rate, the exchange is carried out upon receipt of the funds, so it is possible to cancel as long as the funds have not been sent. However, if you decide to lock the rate, once the transaction is confirmed, the operation is committed and cannot be cancelled. This is why we display the exact rate and amount before each confirmation, so that you can check all the details before confirming. If you have any questions about an ongoing transaction, contact our team as quickly as possible on the number indicated in your client area.
Security
2 questionsIs the b-sharpe currency exchange service secure?
b-sharpe is affiliated with SO-FIT, the self-regulatory body for financial intermediaries in Switzerland. Your funds are strictly separated from our own funds and are never commingled. Based in Geneva and subject to Swiss law, we operate in accordance with the strict standards of Swiss financial regulations. Additional insurance cover of CHF 5 million further protects your funds against fraud and hacking.
Is b-sharpe regulated?
Yes. b-sharpe is a Swiss financial intermediary, affiliated with SO-FIT, the Swiss self-regulatory body. Your funds never leave Switzerland: they are held in bank accounts domiciled in Switzerland, strictly separated from our own funds.
Cross-border worker
6 questionsCan a cross-border worker use b-sharpe without a Swiss account?
Yes. b-sharpe is particularly well suited to cross-border workers who do not wish to open a bank account in Switzerland. Upon registration, b-sharpe assigns you a personal Swiss IBAN, starting with CH, accepted by 100% of Swiss employers, into which your employer pays your salary directly in CHF. b-sharpe then takes care of automatically converting your Swiss francs into euros and transferring the funds to your bank account abroad. No banking procedures in Switzerland are required.
What are the fees for changing Swiss francs into euros?
At b-sharpe, the CHF/EUR exchange fees are limited to a transaction fee applied to the interbank rate, from 0.12%. There are no account opening fees, no management fees, and no hidden transfer fees. The amount you confirm is the amount you will receive: no hidden surprises.
How long does it take to receive my euros after a CHF/EUR exchange?
Once your Swiss francs are received in your b-sharpe account, the CHF/EUR conversion is executed, and the euros are transferred to your account the same day or the next business day, depending on the time the funds are received. In practice, the vast majority of transfers arrive within 24 business hours. Weekends and public holidays are not counted in this timeframe.
Do I have to declare my b-sharpe IBAN to the French tax authorities?
No. You do not have to declare your b-sharpe IBAN to the French tax authorities (via the Cerfa 3916 form). b-sharpe is a financial intermediary. Your IBAN is a transit account used solely to convert your currencies. Since your funds merely pass through it and are never held there, it is not a deposit account subject to the legal declaration requirement.
Which exchange rate should I use for my tax return in France?
The French tax authorities allow cross-border workers to use an annual average rate published each year on the 2047-Suisse form, set at CHF 1 = EUR 1.07 for 2025 income. If this rate is unfavourable to you, you can use the exchange rate on the day each salary was received. b-sharpe does not provide any tax advice. We recommend that you reach out to an accountant specialising in French-Swiss taxation.
Is Switzerland in the SEPA zone?
Yes, Switzerland is a member of the SEPA zone, which allows transfers between Switzerland and the European Union. However, some banks charge additional fees on these transfers. With b-sharpe, transfers to your account in France are included at no additional cost.
